Viola pedata, Bird's Foot Violet

Bird's Foot Violet is similar to Prairie Violet, however the telling difference is a larger flower and lack of hair (unbearded) on the inside of the flower's throat. Prairie Violet may have more foliage and is much more common. I've seen Bird's Foot Violet have a limited re-bloom in late summer. This is not a commonly available species.

Blooms: blue-violet, May into June
Height: 4 to 6 inches
Conditions: sun to pt shade, medium to medium-dry soils
