Astragalus crassicarpus, Ground Plum
Ground Plum is a spring blooming, low-growing denizen of dry prairies from Minnesota into the Mountain West. Plant a specimen within your short grass prairie along with Blue Grama, Prairie Violet, Pasque Flower, Prairie Phlox, Prairie Onion, Long-bract Spiderwort, Fameflower, Slender Penstemon, and others. There is a fruit, but I have no experience with it.
Blooms: Rosy-pink, May-June
Height: 4 to 16 inches
Conditions: sun, medium-dry to dry soils
